Toronto win makes it four in a row for Villopoto

As Supercross travelled north for its lone visit to Canada, Villipoto repeated his past success to make it four in a row for the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider.

The twelfth race of the 2013 season saw 48,669 fans converge on Toronto's Rogers centre on Saturday night. As the chequered flag dropped at race end, Villopoto had scored his seventh win in the 2013 series and galvanised further his status as one of the greats of the sport.

Holeshotting the start, Ryan did not have things entirely his own way and slipped behind Chad Reed and then Davi Millsaps in the early stages. Mixing in Dungay and former Kawasaki rider, James Stewart and the stage was set for a monumental ballet.

With Millsaps past Reed the target was firmly on his back as Villopoto hunted him down from lap three onwards with Dungay settled in third. With the crowd on their feet for much of the next eleven laps, the two riders rode in close formation with Ryan pushing as hard as he knew and waiting for just the smallest mistake form Millsaps.

Finally, on lap eleven, Ryan made his pass after the straight and was never bested on his way to another imperious victory. In point of fact, Villopoto scored another win on the night celebrating back to back wins at the Rogers Stadium – even though the two visits by the Supercross circus was six years apart.

“It was unbelievable” exclaimed Villopoto. “Davi is riding really well and he rode great tonight. I got round him with about half the race to go and got a little bit of a gap. Everyone on the podium is unbelievable and it shows how fast we all are if we can run so fast on such a difficult track”
